Recycled Waste
All sanitary, Nappy and Adult incontinence waste collected from our Customers is taken for treatment and recycling. This plant we utilise is the UK's first ever facility for recycling this type of waste, which in turn vastly reduces the carbon footprint of both ours and Customer's business's.
Within an air controlled and clean working environment, waste is delivered to a dedicated receiving bay. Utilising autoclave advanced thermal treatment technology, the waste material is sterilised, separation commenced and moisture released. At this stage the super absorbent polymers are collapsed and rendered inert.
There follows further sort and separation of plastics and fibres and removal of contaminants. The plastics continue through granulation and multiple- washing stages before being bagged for shipment in flake form. These flakes can then be used, or pelletised to be used, in new products such as plastic components or as an ingredient in composite materials replacing concrete and steel. The fibres can be used for industrial cardboard tubing and fibre-based construction materials. 95 percent of the material input is treated with the remaining solids sent to the sewer.
